I have the best dentist.

 

I was in for a  routine cleaning, and it seemed like a filling was loosened by the process, so he got me in right before July 4th holiday even though it was busy. Just my luck I needed a new crown, so he drilled a while, put that on and....once the novacaine wore off, it never stopped hurting.

 

I called the emergency number for my dentist - which is his cell - and he came in today to do an impromptu ROOT CANAL so I would not be in pain for the rest of the week. He was on vacation but he did it anyway.  Sometimes teeth just don't like all the drilling and give up. At least mine did. Hence the nerve dying, hence the root canal.

 

(No nerve - no pain, this should be someone's mantra somewhere).

 

He'll finish the crown etc when he's not on vacation but the temp crown and the lack of nerve in that tooth now should allow me to desist with the Advil and actually eat things like hamburgers.

 

So as you chow down on the hot dogs, hamburgers and other grilled items: think of your good buddies, your teeth, and give them an extra brushing. It's too late for my tooth but it could just save yours.
